Brazil Boosts Skanska Sales

Skanska boosts revenues and income in Latin America helped by strong demand in Brazil.

The Latin America operations of Skanska, Scandinavia's largest construction and property development group, posted a solid second quarter and overall good first half. "We are quite happy," says Hernan Morano, the Argentina-based president of Skanska Latin America. "We had a couple of bad news on a couple projects, but are still on target...We are in good shape."

Skanska's construction revenues in Latin America grew by 17.8 percent to 964 million Swedish kronor (SEK, approximately $143.2 million) in the second quarter, while operating income increased by 257.1 percent to 25 million SEK.  In Latin America, Skanska mainly focuses on services for the oil and gas industry and construction.
