Brazil M&A Boom Continues

SAO PAULO — Business is booming at Mattos Filho Veiga Filho Marrey Jr. & Quiroga, a prominent business law firm in Brazil. “We are currently working on 40 IPO’s,” says João Ricardo de Azevedo Ribeiro, an M&A partner at the firm.
EARLY FOCUS
Mattos Filho has successfully ridden the waves of initial public offerings and merger and acquisition in the past two years. It became the second-largest legal advisor to M&A in Latin America last year behind Skadden, according to Thomson Financial (See Skadden and Citigroup Top M&A Advisors).
The Sao Paulo law firm, which has seen annual growth of 20-30 percent, advised on deals $6.9 billion last year. Assuming that current market jitters do not spoil the party...
