Brazil: Record PC Sales

SAO PAULO — The consumer goods sector has been thriving in Brazil, and the Latin American giant has just enjoyed its best Christmas season in the past 10 years. But few have had such a good time as computer manufacturers and retailers, who have benefited from a generous and unprecedented combination of lower costs and (a much) stronger demand.

"Last year, for the first time, Brazilians have bought more computers than TV sets,” says Hélio Rotenberg, president of Positivo, a fast growing Brazilian computer manufacturer.
