Legal M&A Advisors: Top Winners

Several Brazilian and US firms see strong gains despite a declining M&A market in Latin America.

There were big differences among the legal advisors involved in Latin America’s mergers and acquisitions last year.

Although the M&A market fell last year, several law firms managed to see the value of their M&A deals jump dramatically.

That’s the case with White & Case, which saw a 494.8 percent increase in the value of completed deals it advised on, reaching a total of $15.3 billion. That catapulted the New York-based law firm from 11th to 4th place among law firms advising on completed M&A’s in
Latin America.

 

“Even on an absolute basis we were very happy,” says Oliver Brahmst, who is the head of White & Case Americas practice, which includes Latin America. “We came by a number of large and prominent [deals through] many Mexican and Brazilian clients.”
