JUAN DOLIO, Dominican Republic – Amidst a hot Caribbean sunshine and ocean waves crashing into the coastal cliffs, workers are busy building luxury homes in what may become the next hot luxury real estate resort in the Dominican Republic.
Costablanca, as the new resort is called, will have one major advantage over other resorts. The location is only 40 minutes away from capital Santo Domingo versus two to four hours for Casa de Campo or Punta Cana, the existing upscale resort areas.
The 520-acre development will include a golf course designed by Greg Norman, a Chris Evert tennis center, a 150-slip marina, 52 villas, two beachfront towers and 2,400 ft. beachfront. The price tag? $500 million spread out over a ten year period that started two years ago.
