Bradesco, Latin America’s Top Insurer

Brazil dominates the ranking of Latin America’s top 100 insurance companies.

Brazil

dominates the ranking of Latin America’s Top 100 Insurers from Latin Business Chronicle. It accounts for seven of the top insurance companies in the region and 33 of the top 100, according to the ranking.

Mexico and Venezuela follow with 19 companies each. There after Chile with 12, Argentina and Colombia with 8 and 7, respectively, and Peru the remaining two.

Brazil-based Bradesco Vida e Previdencia is Latin America’s largest insurance company. Last year it posted premiums of $7.4 billion, a 61.9 percent increase from 2008. Its market share in Brazil was 16.7 percent last year and the company boasts more than 15.9 million indsured people and 90,000 companies insured.
