El Salvador has Latin America’s highest costs of crime for business, according to a Latin Business Chronicle analysis of data from The World Bank.


Losses due to theft, robbery, vandalism or arson represent 2.6 percent of company sales in
El Salvador. That’s the highest rate in Latin America and the 10th highest in the world, according to a Latin Business Chronicle analysis of World Bank data for 111 countries. The countries that are worse than El Salvador include Egypt and eight African nations.
