Latin America’s information technology market reached $275 billion last year and is expected to grow another 10 percent this year, according to market researcher Gartner.
With those kinds of numbers, there is little wonder that technology executives in Latin America are expressing strong optimism. “I’m pretty confident companies will continue to invest in software in 2011 and probably more so than this year,” says Rodolpho Cardenuto, president and CEO for Latin America for Germany-based SAP, the world's largest business software company.
Anderson Teixeira, President of Americas for Sony Ericsson, the wireless joint venture between Japan’s Sony and Sweden’s Ericsson, sees the Latin American market growing thanks to investments by operators.
