LIMA -- When Carmen González-Sanfeliu plans a business trip to Latin America, most of her decisions from what to pack to where she stays to how she will get around are largely based on one thing: Safety.

 

“Safety is a major concern for woman traveling by themselves, for work or leisure,” says González-Sanfeliu, Regional Vice President of Latin America and the Caribbean for Intelsat, a communications satellite services provider headquartered in Luxembourg. “In general, women have to be more careful because they are seen as easier targets [than men].”
